SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

FOR A HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE/FEMALE STUDENT

The Republican Women of Okaloosa Federated Scholarship has been established to assist a high school female graduate pursue her college education. The recipient must show a high degree of motivation in pursuit of her education and have an active history of community service and/or political involvement. RWOF will be awarding a scholarship in the amount of $500.

Selection of the recipient will rest with the Republican Women of Okaloosa Federated Scholarship Committee.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant must be a class of 2008 graduating high school senior, AND
The applicant must be Female AND
The applicant must be admitted to a College of their choice AND
The applicant must have a history of volunteer community service and/or
political involvement AND
The applicant must be a registered Republican voter AND
The applicant must have maintained a minimum 3.0 grade point average in high school AND
The principal, counselor, or teacher must recommend applicant AND
The applicant may not be a family member of the RWOF Scholarship Committee nor of any of the judges.

RESTRICTIONS

This scholarship may be used only for payment of tuition or other fees paid through the registrar's office of an accredited school of the student's choice.

The winner shall not be awarded the actual scholarship until she is accepted at an accredited school and provides the RWOF Scholarship Chairperson a verification of enrollment from the school. The Scholarship Chairperson will mail the scholarship award directly to the school of choice.

Should a recipient transfer to another accredited school before using all available funds, remaining funds may be transferred by the original school to the new school of the student's choice. The RWOF Scholarship Chairperson must be notified immediately.

Should the winner cease to attend classes at the school of choice and not immediately transfer to another school, any money remaining in this fund shall be returned to RWOF.

Any student planning delayed school enrollment should notify the RWOF Scholarship Chairperson immediately. All scholarship funds must be used within one full year (fall term to fall term) after receiving the scholarship. Money not deposited with the student's school of choice by that date would revert to RWOF.

Students must graduate from a high school in Okaloosa County

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS The application and all appropriate paperwork must be received on/by April 15, 2008. Incomplete or late application materials will not be considered. A letter verifying that your application has been received will be sent to you. If you have submitted your application but not received this verification letter by April 10, 2008, contact the Scholarship Chairperson immediately. APPLICANTS

Complete the application form and have your counselor complete their form.

Write and submit a personal essay of no more than 500 words on Americanism. The essay, in whole or in part, may be used for publication.

Three (3) letters of recommendation from people other than relatives must be included. One must be academically based from a school official: teacher, counselor, and/or principal. The letters of recommendation must be mailed directly from the individual to The Republican Women of Okaloosa Federated President.

Submit ONE official school transcript of last seven (7) semesters, verifying cumulative grade point average.

Complete and submit the Statement of Understanding signed by the student and her sponsor.

COUNSELORS

Complete the Counselor's Recommendation Form and work with student to obtain supporting documents.

It is ultimately the student's responsibility to ensure that the scholarship package is complete. However, if your school prefers to aid the student in completing the package, please verify that the application and appropriate supporting documents are included. Applications without the requested documents will not be accepted

SELECTION AND AWARD NOTIFICATION The RWOF Scholarship committee selects the scholarship recipients. You will be contacted by April 25, 2008 if you have been selected for the award. You will be honored at the June 4, 2008 RWOF luncheon and at your High School Honors Day Program .

I understand that the RWOF Scholarship Committee reserves the right to correspond with the selected school financial aid officer concerning the appropriate use of this award. Should questions or concerns arise, the Scholarship Committee reserves the right to withdraw unused funds until my standing is clarified to their satisfaction.
